About Me
My major, Mechanical Engineering, was born out of reflecting on my academic habits and experiences in high school. I preferred to methodologically solve problems and trusted mathematical approximations to analyze situations and make decisions. Enrolling in the STEM Academy showed me that engineers solved the problems scientists found and determined my path as an engineer. I chose mechanical engineering through the process of elimination, but ultimately because I wanted a solid general foundation of knowledge to build off of.
I am pursuing a computer science minor because I believe it’s a skill of the future, and that everyone should learn programming regardless of their discipline. I’m passionate about conserving our environment, and determined to make a positive impact on the future and am planning on getting a concentration in the program in sustainable engineering (PISE).
Outside of academics, the Science Olympiad community has been a large part of my life, and I am giving back to the organization by helping plan annual tournaments for middle and high school students. Extra hobbies include playing violin on the campus orchestra, rollerblading, and competitive ballroom dancing. Please ask me about any of these!
Personal Statement
My life purpose it to use my ingenuity, optimism, and hardwork to make a positive impact on the larger population. It may be through groundbreaking research to add to our collective knowledge, or designing innovative robotics.
Goals
[DONE] Secure a mechanical engineering, R&D internship role for next summer, by reaching out to people online and staying on top of email communications by November.
[In Progress] Focus on balancing my academics, professional growth and family/social life by scheduling 1 hour blocks every week for professional growth and 1 hour for keeping in touch with family for fall semester.
[In Progress] Take time to identify the people who are important to me- socially, academically, and professionally. Before the end of the semester, schedule 6 talks with different people in each category to keep in touch, make consistent study times, or to learn about their journey/get professional growth advice.
